Dear Readers,
In this post and the coming one, you’ll be gaining some insights about the good qualities that could be inherited from the great Martin Luther King and the father of the nation, the great freedom fighter of India, the Mahatma Gandhi. Both the leaders teach us very minute lessons on each and every aspect of the life, one of which is the time management.
Mahatma Gandhi was very punctual with regards to the time. He always used to keep a dollar-watch in his pocket. His biographies” The Life of Mahatma Gandhi” and others which are written by eminent authors, are the most read books across the world. In many of these, he had compared time with the life and explained various analogies and co-relations related with it.
Gandhi Ji, as he was popularly known as, used to receive plenty of letters and post-cards at that time from all spheres of society, ranging from a small child to the artisans and peasants and he replied to all those letters, without being late. Such was the efficient time management practiced by Mahatma Gandhi. Sitting beside an injured or an ill person when he used to visit them in the hospital, he didn’t waste his single second of the spare time that he got, in vain. He utilized that time in reading a book or replying to the pending letters. The practice of replying to the letters was continued by him, even after becoming a barrister too.
Mahatma Gandhi never told anybody that he is overly busy. He used to meet and greet all persons who came to visit him for some work or problem. His life had been an open book for anybody to read. Irrespective of the circumstances he always held up to his moral values that he used to preach to one and all. His “walk the talk” had many admirers in British camp, and many swear by his truthfulness. All this happened due to his efficient time management.
That’s all for today’s short soft skills capsule. So, my dear readers and leaders, since time immemorial, time had been the most important resource then, now and for the times to come. And at this point of time when you are reading this article on time management, I am sure that you’ll give utmost reverence to time and hence, time will also reciprocate the same to you.
